2014-15 Regions' Cup: UEFA publishes the regulations of the amateur football competition

The regulations of the ninth edition of the Regions' Cup, amateur football competition, have been published by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), on the 27/01/2014.

Founded in 1998 and held every two years, the Regions' Cup is open to players of regional or national amateur teams who have never played at a professional level. 38 associations will take part in the 2014-15 edition, and the first preliminary round will begin in June 2014. The final phase will take place in June 2015.

The seven goals pursued by UEFA Regions' Cup:

  • "Accord, at national and international level, greater importance to amateur football, which is recognised as an important pillar of European football.
  • Encourage UEFA’s member associations to stage domestic competitions for regional amateur representative teams.
  • Offer young players who have had to leave the youth sector for age reasons and who cannot make the leap to the professional sector an incentive to stay faithful to football and not move to another sporting discipline.
