LaLiga Santander: RCD Espanyol to open an academy in Shanghai (China) in July 2019

Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are set to open an RCDE academy in the city of Shanghai (China) in July 2019, the club's third in China, according to the club on 24/02/2019.

"The club will have an international training centre in one of China's leading cities. The blanquiazul (blue and white, colours of the club) entity continues to work on the development of the brand in the eastern country," said the club that has been owned by Rastar Group, a Chinese company specialised in the manufacture of remote controlled and miniature cars, since November 2015, who added that the agreement would "position RCD Espanyol in one of the most important cities in China, thus enhancing and extending the know-how and successful methodology of the club's football training."

The Shanghai academy will be the club's twelfth overseas, after those in New Jersey, Miami and Los Angeles (United States), Ajman (United Arab Emirates), Baghdad (Iraq), Saitama (Japan), Algiers and Blida (Algeria), Hunan and Yunnan (China), and Stockholm (Sweden).
