FC Barcelona: Camp Nou will be the first European football stadium to be equipped with 5G coverage

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), the Spanish telecommunications group Telefonica and the GSM Association (an association that comprises 800 telephone operators worldwide) have presented the "5G Stadium" project, which will make the Camp Nou (99,354 capacity) "the first football stadium in Europe to have dedicated standard 5G coverage," announced the club on 26/02/2019.

"The deployment of this technology both in the stands and on the playing field, using Telefonica's commercial band and a standard 3GPP Ericsson network, will enable the exploration of new and more immersive ways of enjoying sports events from home as if actually being in the stadium, using 360º cameras connected by fifth generation mobile technology," said FC Barcelona.

Live images of the Camp Nou obtained thanks to 5G technology, a virtual tour of the grounds, as well as a video of a training session of the Barça professional team were projected through virtual reality glasses during the project's presentation, in which Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona, participated, as part of the Mobile World…
