eSports: AS Monaco - 1^st Ligue 1 club to launch a team on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video game

AS Monaco FC (Ligue 1 Conforama) has launched a professional eSports team on the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) multiplayer video game from the Japanese publisher Nintendo, on 15/02/2019. The launch makes AS Monaco the first Ligue 1 Conforama team on the video game and is the club's fifth eSports team (see below).

"AS Monaco is continuing its eSports development by welcoming a team to the well-known wrestling game featuring all the characters in the Nintendo universe: Super Smash Bros. in addition to breaking many sales records (more than five million copies sold the week it was released), the title's eSports scene is growing in France and Europe," said the club.

"We are convinced that SSBU will become an major eSports title in 2019 and we want to actively participate in its development. It was therefore logical for us to arrive on this title, to build a team with a lot of ambition and to offer more visibility to an eSports scene that has already been very active for several years," said Jérémy Girardot, manager of the eSports team.
