Spain: Association of Women's Clubs in conflict with RFEF over the sale of TV rights

"Having taken note of the publication by the Association of Spanish Women's Football Clubs in a document titled 'Basis of Solicitation for the Commercialization of Rights to use Audiovisual Content of Matches of the Women's First Division for the 2019-2020 to 2021-2022 Seasons', the RFEF wishes to inform the general public and television media groups in particular, as well as the companies that manage audiovisual rights, that the statutes of the RFEF approved by the board of directors of the Spanish High Council of Sport, and published in the Spanish Official Journal, establish in Article 4 corresponding to the RFEF, as its primary activity, the governance, administration, management, organization and regulation of football in all its specialties," stated the RFEF on 26/02/2019.

"Independent of the possibility of commercialising the audiovisual rights by the clubs, it is totally incoherent and incomprehensible that the clubs have no sort of decision or control over the organisation and management of their competition while they must assume the responsibilities and obligations…
