Germany: 3.Liga posts an average of 8,076 spectators per game, and Kaiserslautern a record 22,239

The 3.Liga (German third division) drew 2,002,809 spectators after 248 matches with an average of 8,076 per game, according to the German Football Association (DFB), organiser of this professional competition (20 clubs) that was created in 2008 to bridge the gap between the 2.Bundesliga and the regional championships, and which presented these figures on 26/02/2019.

The 3.Liga ("Dritte Liga") "is clearly on track for a record 11^th year," said the DFB, which pointed out that the previous best average attendance was in 2015-16 with 7,071 spectators per match (2.687 million in total). "At this rate, the 3 million spectators mark will be surpassed for the first time," added the Association.

These figures are boosted by the attendance of the two clubs relegated from 2.Bundesliga in 2018: 1.FC Kaiserslautern (22,239 spectators on average per game) and Eintracht Braunschweig (17,375), whose sporting performances have been poor (13^th and 17^th respectively after 25 matches, see full table below).
