Spain: "There will be no more football on Mondays from next season" (L. Rubiales, RFEF president)

"There will be no more football on Mondays. From next season (2019-20) in LaLiga, there will be matches on Saturday and Sunday. We will see what happens on Friday, if we can reach a good agreement for all. Business is important, but fans are even more so," said Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, via Twitter (see below) on 01/03/2019.

On each LaLiga Santander matchday (with the exception of the international break), the last game is scheduled on Monday evening (kick-off at 21:00 CET). This game may not involve any of the clubs competing in the Champions League or the Europa League. However, fans of the smaller clubs - those most often concerned by Monday's matches - have expressed displeasure at not being able to go to the stadium or accompany their team on to away fixtures.
