FIFA TMS: 12,309 international transfers in 2013 (+4%) for a total amount of €2.71 billion

12,309 international transfers were made in 2013, 4% more than in 2012, for a total of €2.71 billion in transfer fees, up 41% on the year, says the "Global Transfer Market 2014" report from the FIFA TMS (Transfer Matching System) company, published on the 29/01/2014. FIFA TMS is the company that runs the registration platform for international transfers for FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).

The Premier League is the league that spent the most on international transfers in 2013 with about €671 million (or about 25% of total expenditure in international transfers), ahead of the Serie A (€347 million), Ligue 1 (€307 million), La Liga (€233 million) and the Bundesliga (€175 million).

In all the championships combined, clubs paid €158 million in commissions to agents of players in 2013 for international transfers, a total amount up 30% compared to 2012. The Premier League clubs paid €54 million in commissions to agents. In contrast, the number of international transfers involving a fee paid to a player's agent is down three percentage points from 17% of total…
