AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano (Serie A TIM) have agreed to build a new San Siro Stadium near the current stadium, which will soon be destroyed, according to the Italian daily La Repubblica, on 03/03/2019. The project for a new stadium could be presented before summer 2019, for an inauguration expected in 2023.

The two clubs confirmed the signing of "a memorandum of understanding formalising their willingness to work together on the project for a modern, state-of-the-art stadium," on 09/11/2018. According to La Repubblica, they will finance the majority of the project, which includes a 60,000 capacity stadium (compared to 78,328 at the current Stadium), a performance hall that can accommodate 5,000 people and a shopping centre, for a total estimated cost of €600m.

The design of the new stadium is based on that of the MetLife Stadium (82,500 capacity) in New York (USA) and a naming contract worth €25m per year is expected for the two future resident clubs, according to the Italian daily.
