UEFA: investigation into Manchester City for "potential breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations"

"The investigatory chamber of the independent UEFA Club Financial Control Body has today opened a formal investigation into Manchester City FC (Premier League) for potential breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations," announced the European Confederation on 07/03/2019.

"The investigation will focus on several alleged violations of FFP that were recently made public in various media outlets," added UEFA, referring to the recent "Football Leaks" report, which began on 02/11/2018, on the initiative of 15 European media outlets grouped within the European Investigative Collaborations. The EIC, which analysed "more than 70 million documents over eight months", accuses UEFA of having been party to "the laundering more than €6bn of cash injections", notably with Manchester City FC, a beneficiary of "overvalued sponsorship contracts."
