The Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro has acquired the broadcasting rights to the Liga Femenina Iberdrola (Spanish women's division 1), for the 2019-2022 period, reportedly from the Association of Spanish Women's Football Clubs (ACFF), for an amount of €9m (€3m per season), on 07/03/2019.

The ACFF is in conflict with the RFEF regarding the commercialisation of these rights. The RFEF has announced the creation of two new first Spanish women's divisions on 05/03/2019 (see below). The new first division (Elite Division) would be the competition that would allow access to European competitions, in place of the Liga Femenina Iberdrola.

14 of the 16 clubs in the Liga Femenina Iberdrola support the ACFF, while only FC Barcelona and Athletic Club Bilbao are on the side of the Federation.
