The German car manufacturer BMW has stated that it is in talks with FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) about the possibility of acquiring fellow German car manufacturer Audi's 8.33% stake in the Bavarian club as part of a ten-year agreement that would begin in 2025 and be worth an estimated €800m in total, according to multiple German media outlets on 10/03/2019. 

"We are currently in talks with regard to a strategic partnership with FC Bayern. It is too early to discuss any details, however the scale and sums of money being suggested by the media do not correspond with reality," said Mathias Schmidt, head of corporate and culture communications at BMW Group on 10/03/2019.

Audi, which belongs to the Volkswagen Group, has been a sponsor of FC Bayern Munich since 2002 and acquired 8.33% of the club's shares for €90m in 2011. The car manufacturer pays Bayern Munich an estimated €30m per year and extended its sponsorship partnership with the Bavarian club until the end of the 2024-25 season on 04/08/2015.
