eSports: The FA partners with the ESL to create its first national team on the FIFA 19 video game

The English Football Association (The FA) has formed a partnership with the Electronic Sports League (ESL), an eSports event organiser, to create a national eSports Team on the FIFA 19 video game, published by the EA Sports, according to the Association on 01/03/2019.

"The FA is to partner with leading esports company ESL to host online qualifiers on Saturday 09/03 and Sunday 10/03/2019 with four finalists to progress to live finals to face the nation's best in central London (ENG) on Thursday 14/03/2019. The search is on to find FIFA 19 stars to represent the Three Lions at the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup in April 2019 and further tournaments beyond that," said The FA.

"The tournament is open to all FIFA 19 players on PS4 or Xbox One over the age of 16. The FIFA eNations Cup will be an invite-only exhibition event for member associations and will pit 16 national teams of the very best eFootball nations against each other in the FIFA 19 Ultimate Team (FUT) mode.
