Tickets: Bundesliga is considering the establishment of a centralised platform for resale

In the DFL (German Professional Football League), several chairmen of Bundesliga clubs and leaders of ticketing companies met on the 31/01/2014 to discuss the opportunity for the German league to develop a match tickets resale platform for all 36 clubs in the first and second German divisions, said local media, on the 27/01/2014.

The management committee of the DFL would have to give its agreement for the creation of this project, according to the German magazine Kicker, to better regulate the secondary and black markets for tickets in Germany. The idea would be to give the contract for the resale of tickets to a single operator in order to better control the identity of the final purchaser of the ticket, thus ensuring that the correct customer actually receives the ticket and fight the rising prices of tickets in the secondary market.

Supporters of the first 2 Bundesliga divisions complain about rising prices on ticket exchange platforms, and especially on the website eBay, where bidding mechanically increases the prices and whose revenues (sales commissions) do go to the German…
