Spain: Banco Santander extends as title sponsor of LaLiga's professional leagues until 2020-21

The Spanish bank Banco Santander has extended its agreement as title sponsor (first level) of LaLiga's professional football leagues by an additional season, or until 2020-21, according to the body on 14/03/2019.

"The project incorporates LaLiga Santander, LaLiga 1|2|3, LaLiga Genuine Santander (league for people with intellectual disabilities), LaLiga Promises Santander (U12 competition) and LaLiga ProPlayer, an initiative recently unveiled alongside Santander Bank that that sees young Spanish footballers receive scholarships to study and play football at US universities," said LaLiga.

Banco Santander and LaLiga entered into a strategic sponsorship partnership for an initial period of three seasons (2016-2019), with an optional additional year (2019-20) on 21/07/2016. This optional year has been activated, according to Spanish media on 19/12/2018. The annual value of the agreement is estimated at €20m.

In 2016, Santander succeeded the Spanish bank BBVA (2008-2016) as title partner of the Spanish professional football leagues. The annual value of the deal was estimated at €23.5m.
