The British audiovisual group Eleven Sports will launch in Japan on Saturday 16/03/2019. Eleven Sports will broadcast minor Japanese baseball league matches for free via its OTT platform.

Japan is the twelfth country in which Eleven Sports has acquired sports broadcasting rights after Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal and Myanmar (formerly Burma). In Myanmar, Eleven Sports has established itself under the "My Sports" brand.

Eleven Sports is experiencing difficulties in the United Kingdom and Ireland where it has not been able to sign a distribution agreement with one of the British telecommunications operators (Sky, BT and Virgin Media). In these two countries, the group transferred all broadcasting rights to the Serie A TIM and Eredivisie, followed by four sub-licensed LaLiga Santander matches (non-exclusive) to the pay-TV group Premier Sports on 30/01 and 21/02/2019 respectively.
