Qatar 2022: FIFA request a status report on the working conditions by the 12/02/2014

FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) has requested that Qatar submit a report on improving working conditions in the country by the 12/02/2014. This request was formalised in a letter sent by Jérôme Valcke, the general secretary of FIFA, on the 30/01/2014.

The report will then be used to prepare for the hearing at the European Parliament in Brussels on the 13/02/2014, which will be attended by Dr. Theo Zwanziger - the FIFA representative mandated to deal with this matter.

"Information is expected on the concrete measures taken by Qatar since the last visit of the President of FIFA, Joseph S. Blatter, in Doha on the 09/11/2013, to improve the living conditions and well-being of foreign workers," said FIFA.

This process will continue beyond the 13/02/2014 and will result in a report to be presented to the Executive Committee of FIFA at its meeting on the 20 and 21/03/2014.

The 22nd edition of the World Cup will be held in Qatar in 2022. Competing with Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States, Qatar was named host by FIFA on the 02/12/2010.
