VfL Wolfsburg: Volkswagen makes way for a rainbow coloured shirt sponsor for "2019 Diversity Weeks"

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen, main shirt sponsor of VfL Wolfsburg (Bundesliga), is giving up its sponsorship space on the shirts of the club's professional men's and women's teams for the "2019 Diversity Weeks," announced the club on 13/03/2019.

A rainbow-coloured logo with the hashtag "#Vilfalt" ("Diversity") has replaced the traditional "VW" logo on VfL Wolfsburg shirts. The women's team wore the special shirt for their DFB-Pokal quarterfinal home game versus 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam (4-0) on 13/03/2019. The men's team wore the shirt for the first time versus Fortuna Düsseldorf (5-2, Matchday 26 of the 2018-19 Bundesliga season) at the Volkswagen Arena (30,000 capacity) on 16/03/2019.

"VfL organises the Diversity Weeks in conjunction with the City of Wolfsburg Fan Project.
