FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) posted a record turnover of €350.6m for the financial year 2018 (from 01/01 to 31/12/2018), a 46% increase compared to 2017 (€240.1m), according to the club's annual report (document available to download), published on 18/03/2019. This is the highest turnover in the history of the Gelsenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia, GER) club.

FC Schalke 04 also posted an unprecedented net profit: €40.5m, compared with a net loss of €12.2m in 2017. "The key reason for the higher annual excess has been due to the rise in TV revenue, which has risen up to €147.8m (+82%) compared with €81.2m the previous year. The rise of TV revenue stems from a new TV contract signed for the Bundesliga rights (2017-2021) alongside the Royal Blues qualifying for the UEFA Champions League," explained Schalke 04.

Sponsorship revenue reached nearly €80m in 2018, up €9.1m compared to 2017, while capital gains on player transfers amounted to €45.6m, 3.6 times higher than the previous year.
