South Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and South Korea (a joint application with North Korea), are the nine countries of the national federations that have expressed "their interest in submitting a bid to host the final competition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023," announced FIFA on 19/03/2019.

"This is the largest-ever list of MAs (member associations) to have submitted formal expressions of interest to FIFA with a view to hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup, the first edition of which was held in 1991," said the world body. As France is hosting the 2019 edition, no UEFA federation has submitted a dossier for 2023, even if regulations allow it, whereas for the Men's World Cup two consecutive editions of the competition cannot be organised by the same confederation.

The 2023 edition will be the second Women's World Cup with 24 teams and 52 matches, after the 2019 edition in France (from 07/06 to 07/07/2019).
