France: 41% of French people interested in football in 2018-19 and 30% of women, new records (LFP)

41% of French people say they are interested in football, including 30% of women in France, according to the Ipsos survey conducted from 02 to 06/11/2018 for the LFP and the Première Ligue (French union of club presidents) and whose results were presented on 21/03/2019.

"The interest in football in France is at a record level, we have added 7 points in two years (34% in 2016-17), which can be explained by a 'Neymar effect' in 2017-18, followed by a 'World Cup effect' in 2018-19. Interest from women took a 50% additional presence over the same period (20% of women interested in football in 2016-17, 25% in 2017-18 and 30% in 2018-19). This is an important target to grow our attendance and bring more families to the stadiums. On Millennials (15-34 years old), we also added 10 points in two years (46% of them say they are interested in football in 2018-19, against 36% in 2016-17.) Football is again 'on trend' in France," stated Nathalie Boy de la Tour, president of the French League.
