The LOC (Local Organising Committee) of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has been officially activated and named the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy under decree of the Emir, on 29/01/2014. The LOC replaces the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, established in December 2010, when Qatar was appointed as host of the XXII World Cup.

"The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy will focus on constructing proposed tournament venues and projects, coordinating with local stakeholders and ensuring a lasting legacy far beyond the FIFA World Cup, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 (development program)," said Hassan Al Thawadi, head of the new board.

"This year is an important one for us as we begin to see five stadiums in different phases of construction in Qatar. The activation of the LOC is a further key milestone for us," he added.
