Proposal 2: strengthen the training activity of professional football clubs

Increasing the awareness of young players to "social, civic and economic realities of the country" is central to the second proposal of the report "Towards a sustainable model of French football", submitted by Jean Glavany, chairman of the Commission, to Valérie Fourneyron, Minister of Sports, Youth, Popular Education and Community Life, on 29/01/2014.

"Continuing to expand efforts in the civic education of young players in training centers is the first implementation point of this proposal," states the Glavany Commission, which would also "value the training activity of clubs, including financially through collective bargaining."

PROPOSAL 2 AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION:

Training players, workers and citizens

  • The dual training course must become a triple curriculum: athletic, academic and civic. Clubs must open their academies to the education system and the socio-economic life, and schedules must be adapted to the requirements of high-level football training.
