Proposal 7: change the system of social security contributions from players' salaries

"Aligning the system of social security charges of players with the one of entertainment artists" is the seventh proposal of the report "Towards a sustainable model of French football", submitted by Jean Glavany, chairman of the Commission, to Valérie Fourneyron, Minister of Sports, Youth, Popular Education and Community Life, on 29/01/2014.

The nature of the activities of professional football players is now closer, in certain aspects, to that of entertainment artists: professional football players perform regularly in front of the public, but also create some value thanks to their image. Accordingly, it would be advisable to align to the modes of national insurance contributions of the entertainment sector," states the Glavany Commission.

This solution would be a "fair system of social contributions ensuring financial balance," which would end the controversy about restoring the DIC (Right to Collective Image), eliminated by the legislature in 2010.
