FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) announced the schedule of the renovation of the Camp Nou on 03/02/2014: work should begin in May 2017 and end in February 2021.

The work will take place in a manner that allows FC Barcelona to continue playing at the Camp Nou during the renovation. This requirement has always been a priority for the club. The renovated Camp Nou will have a total area of 104,000 m2, against the current area of 40,000 m2 in 2014.

The new Camp Nou will have a capacity of 105,000 covered seats. The lower grandstand will be rebuilt to gain verticality and the third ring will be completed. The project provides a complete roof for the stands. The seats will be wider and more comfortable and hallways will also be expanded. The overall project represents a cost of €600 million.

A referendum will be held on 05 or 06/04/2014 when the FC Barcelona socios will decide on the renovation of the stadium.

  • "€420 million will be spent on the renovation of the Camp Nou, €90 million for the construction of the Palau Blaugrana (an arena of 10,000 seats), and €90 million will be devoted to parking
