eSports: 3,500 capacity arena to be built ($50m) for the Philadelphia Fusion franchise

Comcast Spectacor, a company specialised in sports equipment and events, has announced plans to build the "Fusion Arena", a 3,500 capacity arena dedicated to eSports, for $50m (€44m), according to the company that owns the American franchise Philadelphia Fusion (Overwatch League, eSports) on 25/03/2019. Work is expected to start in Summer 2019.

Comcast Spectacor, also owner of the NHL franchise the Philadelphia Flyers, the Wells Fargo Center (19,519 capacity), - a sports hall in Philadelphia where the NHL franchise plays along with the Philiadelphia 76ers NBA franchise (20,318 capacity) - is partnering with The Cordish Companies, an American real estate company, for the construction of the arena "in the heart of the Philadelphia sports complex", whose inauguration is scheduled for "early 2021," said the subsidiary of the American media conglomerate Comcast.

"In addition to serving as a premiere destination for competitive gaming events, Fusion Arena will also host a variety of live entertainment programming and experiences," said Comcast Spectacor.
