Brazil 2014: MLS and SUM announce "Road to Brazil" international friendly series

The launch of the "Road to Brazil" series of international friendly warm-up matches in the United States from the 27/05 to the 10/06/2014, ahead of the 2014 World Cup, has been announced by the MLS (Major League Soccer, USA) on 03/02/2013.

SUM (Soccer United Marketing), lead partner agency and commercial branch of the MLS, will organise and run the series.

The "Road to Brazil" series currently has eight participants, including six nations qualified for the World Cup (Brazil, from 12/06 to 13/07/2014): Spain, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Honduras. The series also includes the non-qualified nations Bolivia and El Salvador.

The international friendly matches will take place between 27/05/2014 and 10/06/2014. The cities and stadiums are yet to be determined.

  • American media have also reported that the United States national team will hold their pre-World Cup training camp in northern California, and play three friendly matches on American soil before leaving for Brazil.
