"A distinction must be made between self-esteem and self-confidence. Self-esteem is a fairly abstract image of its own value, it does not change much over the course of life. What served me well was that I didn't have a very high self-esteem, but I had a great deal of self-confidence. I knew I could fight, I always knew how to be vigilant - 'You're not strong enough, you have to be stronger!' - this form of permanent dissatisfaction that I had deep inside me allowed me to question myself.
