MLB: Facebook will broadcast six non-exclusive games in 2019, versus 25 exclusively in 2018

Facebook will broadcast six non-exclusive MLB games (one per month) in 2019, according to a spokesman for the social network on 29/03/2019.

For the 2018 season, Facebook acquired exclusive broadcasting rights in the USA for 25 MLB games for the 2018 season (one per week) on 09/03/2018. This was the first time that games from one of the major North American leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and MLB) were broadcast exclusively in the United States by one of the GAFAs. Facebook paid between $30-$35m (€24-28m) for these rights.

As in 2018, the games will also be broadcast internationally except in "certain markets". Unlike 2018, Facebook will not be able to broadcast games in local markets in the United States where they are broadcast on regional channels.

Facebook previously acquired the non-exclusive broadcasting rights to 20 MLB games for the 2017 season on 18/05/2017.
