FIFA: Onofre Costa (POR) succeeds Fabrice Jouhaud (FRA) as chief communications officer

"Onofre Costa (POR), former head of media of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), has been appointed FIFA's chief communications officer, in place of Fabrice Jouhaud (FRA), who has held the position since 15/08/2016," announced the international federation, in Zurich (SUI) on 01/04/2019.

Onofre Costa, 45 years old, "advised FIFA president Gianni Infantino (ITA/SUI) in the elections won by the former UEFA secretary general on 26/02/2016," said FIFA. Costa previously worked on the communication of his compatriot Luis Figo and on the joint Spain-Portugal bid for the 2018 World Cup (eventually awarded to Russia on 02/12/2010).

Fabrice Jouhaud, former editor of the French sports daily L'Équipe, will remain at FIFA until mid-April "to ensure the transition," said the international body, which added: "We welcome Onofre on board, while expressing our heartfelt gratitude to Fabrice for his years of good services and wishing him success in his future endeavors."
