Serie A TIM: no boxing day fixtures in 2019-20 and a break from 23/12/2019 to 04/01/2020

Winter break from 23/12/2019 to 04/01/2020: the Lega Serie A board of directors chaired by Gaetano Miccichè has decided not to renew in 2019-20 the "Italian boxing day" introduced in 2018-19 with three matchdays, on Saturday 22, Wednesday 26 and Saturday 29/12/2018, according to the Italian League on 01/04/2019.

This three-day series during the Christmas-New Year period, based on the model of the Premier League, which traditionally plays matches on Boxing Day, will be abandoned (if the draft calendar is validated by the FIGC) after a cost-benefit analysis: disappointing crowds and TV audiences, poor economic and commercial interest and controversy on this break with tradition.

The 2019-20 edition of the Italian championship will begin on the weekend of 24-25/08/2019, with an opening match on the pitch of the reigning Italian champions Juventus FC (winner of the last seven editions, with an 18-point lead with eight matchdays remaining in the 2018-19 season).
