Eredivisie: Derbystar footballs in honour of the Dutch artist Rembrandt to be used in 2019-20

Derbystar, a German manufacturer of footballs and sports apparel belonging to the Netherlands group Deventrade, has released a new ball in honour of the well-known Dutch painter Rembrandt for the 2019-20 Eredivisie season on 08/04/2019. The initiative is part of the "Year of Rembrandt" (2019) in the Netherlands, which marks the 350^th anniversary since the painter's death (04/10/1669).

Dubbed the "Rembrandtball", the football is decorated with etchings by the Baroque painter that depict Dutch landscapes and windmills, as well as a representation of Rembrandt himself. The ball was designed under the supervision of Dutch graphic designer Irma Boom.

"Rembrandt was an artist, just like the best players in the Eredivisie. And exceptional creativity is an absolute must when you want to be the best, both on the field and on canvas," said Taco Dibbits, director of the Rijksmuseum, a famous museum in Amsterdam where the new ball was presented.  

The "Rembrandtball" will be used for the first time during Matchday 33, the final matchday of the 2018-19 Eredivisie season, on Saturday 28/04/2019.
