"Super" Champions League: LFP convenes an exceptional GA in order to establish an official position

"The LFP administrative council has decided to convene an exceptional general assembly of the LFP in the coming weeks to establish the official position of French professional football clubs and players," announced the French Professional Football League on 10/04/2019, regarding the project to reform the Champions League.

"Meeting on 10/04/2019, the LFP administrative council discussed the proposed reform of the Champions League. It expressed its deepest concern about the project, which threatens the competitive and economic balance of the national leagues," added the LFP.

An "informal brainstorming session to exchange views and ideas around UEFA club competitions post-2024" took place between the UEFA Executive Committee and ECA Executive Board at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon (SUI) on 19/03/2019. The 32 Champions League clubs could, from 2024-25, be divided into four groups of eight teams (instead of eight groups of four), with 14 guaranteed matches and the assurance that the top five in each group (20 clubs) will participate in the next edition, regardless of their national league…
