Bayern Munich: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge does not exclude the arrival of a third external shareholder

"We could sell shares, I can not completely exclude this possibility. We do not need money for transfers. (...) We will invest in the infrastructure -- in stones, not in bones," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), at the sport business forum SpoBis 2014 in Düsseldorf (Germany) on 04/02/2014.

The Bayern Munich Association owns 81.8% of the shares of FC Bayern Munich AG. The remaining 18.2% are held by the sports equipment brand Adidas and the auto manufacturer Audi (9.1% each), who are also the main sponsors of the club. According to the German press, a third external investor could be the insurance company Allianz, which holds the naming rights to the Bayern stadium (Allianz Arena, 71,137 seats). "I heard that rumor too, but I can not confirm anything at the moment," responded Rummenigge on 04/02/2014.

Additional funds provided by the new investor would particularly serve to finance the expansion work on the Allianz Arena, which aims to increase the capacity to 75,000 seats, and the construction of a new training centre for the Bavarian club.
