Brazilian-born and naturalised Spanish striker Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid) became an ambassador for German sports equipment brand Adidas on 05/02/2014.

The player, born on 07/10/1988, has played twice for Brazil (friendly matches) but decided to play for the Spanish national team in October 2013. The Brazil national team is under contract with Nike, while the Spanish team is a partner of Adidas, which facilitated the choice of the player for the German brand.

"With Costa firing on all cylinders he has been targeted by top clubs, national sides and now by the world's top football brand. Adidas has always been associated with the world's best talent and we are very pleased to link up with Diego Costa," said Gregory Fernandez, Adidas Global Director of Player Management and Scouting.

Diego Costa will wear the Adizero f50 shoes like Lionel Messi (ARG, FC Barcelona), Gareth Bale (Wales, Real Madrid) and Luis Suarez (URU, Liverpool).
