LaLiga: Puma to succeed Nike as equipment supplier of the Spanish football league from 2019-20

The German sports equipment manufacturer Puma will succeed the American brand Nike as equipment supplier of LaLiga from the 2019-20 season, announced the two parties on 15/04/2019. "Puma will produce the official match ball and other products for all games in Spain's top-flight leagues: LaLiga Santander and LaLiga 1|2|3," said LaLiga. The duration of the partnership has not been communicated, however, at least a three season agreement and potentially a five season partnership (until 2023-24) has been reported by specialised media.

As part of the agreement Puma will pay an estimated €5-6m per season to LaLiga, according to media reports. Nike has been a partner of the Spanish professional football league since the 1996-97 season. The US sports equipment supplier provided the official match ball for the Spanish first and second divisions, and last extended its partnership for three seasons (2016-2019) on 05/07/2016.
