CIES: record average attendance of 43,302 fans per game in the Bundesliga over 2013-14 to 2017-18

With an average of 43,302 spectators per game, the Bundesliga is the top league in the world with the highest attendance over 2013 to 2018 (five seasons, from 2013-14 to 2017-18), according to the CIES Football Observatory in its monthly report published on 10/04/2019.

"The analysis of the average attendances over the past five years highlights the incredible passion surrounding professional football clubs in Germany. The Bundesliga is the most followed competition in absolute terms (+18% in comparison to the English Premier League), while the 2.Bundesliga is the second division championship with the greatest average number of spectators (just ahead of the Sky Bet championship)," said the CIES, which studied the attendance of 51 championships in total.

Behind the Bundesliga, the Premier League (36,675 spectators) is the league second with the highest average attendance over this 5-year period, ahead of LaLiga Santander (27,381 spectators) and the Liga Bancomer MX (25,582 spectators), the highest non-European league in ranking.
