Spain: the RFEF and the Spanish Olympic Committee working together to launch a joint OTT platform

Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, announced during the World Soccer Congress in Barcelona (ESP) on 13/04/2019 that the Federation and the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) are working together to launch an OTT platform "within a year".

"We are going to look for the formula so that all the federations that wish to do so, no matter how small, have the possibility of producing their own events. To be part of it, in terms of investment and profit," explained Rubiales to the Spanish daily El Mundo.

LaLiga launched "LaLigaSportsTV" and became "the first major European league to create its own OTT service," on 25/03/2019. "Fans of Spanish sport living outside of Spain will be able to watch matches on demand after the live broadcast has ended, pending local rights restrictions. The LaLigaSportsTV app is available in eight languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russia and Indonesian) for smartphone and tablet, while the smart TV service can be accessed in English and Spanish," added LaLiga.
