LaLiga TV rights (2019-2022): relaunch of the call for tenders for the free-to-air lots in Spain

LaLiga has relaunched a call for tenders for the awarding of Lots 1 (one free-to-air game exclusively per LaLiga Santander matchday) and 3 (two free-to-air games exclusively per LaLiga 1|2|3 matchday) of its domestic TV rights tender for the 2019-2022 period, on 15/04/2019. The awarding of the lots will take place on 06/05/2019.

The telecommunications operator Telefonica had acquired lots 4 and 5, or nine matches (out of 10) per LaLiga Santander matchday, including the first choice, for €980m per season, on 25/06/2018. The same day, the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro acquired lots 2 and 7 (free-to-air highlights of the matches and the live broadcast rights for public places) for €160m per season.

Telefonica then acquired the exclusive pay-TV broadcast rights for all 462 LaLiga 1|2|3 matches per season, as well as the six play-off matches (non-exclusive rights) per season (lot 6), for an estimated €15m per season, on 21/12/2018.
