Sky Deutschland: operating profit of €34.8 million in 2013, the first since its acquisition in 2009

Sky Deutschland generated sales of €1.546 billion in 2013, up 16% compared to 2012 (€1.333 billion), announced the German pay-TV group on 05/02/2014. For the first time since its acquisition by News Corp (now 21st Century Fox) in 2008 and its launch under the brand Sky Deutschland in February 2009, the company (formerly called "Premiere") recorded an operating profit of €34.8 million in 2013, €86 million more than in 2012 (-€51 million).

The German group said it increased its sales by including its subscribers on all its product lines. Sky Deutschland had 3,667,000 direct subscribers at the end of fiscal 2013, 304,000 more subscribers than a year earlier (+9%). The average revenue per subscriber reached €34,56 in the fourth quarter of 2013, up 5.5%.

Total expenses for the group, excluding depreciation, amounted to €1.512 billion at the end of fiscal 2013, up 9% year on year (€1.384 billion in 2012).
