Women's World Cup 2019: "Zero tolerance towards the manipulation of competitions" (V. Ven, FIFA)

"FIFA has a zero tolerance policy towards the manipulation of sporting competitions. It is indeed a statutory aim at the FIFA level to prevent methods and practices such as corruption, doping or match-fixing that jeopardise the integrity of matches and competitions," said Vincent Ven, head of integrity at FIFA, during the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions, at the French Ministry of Sports (Paris, FRA), on Thursday 18/04/2019.

"FIFA is working around the world to promote integrity in sport and first and foremost in the competitions it organises. Thus, in the implementation of measures to protect the Women's World Cup 2019, we are working with the French Platform (French National Platform against sports manipulation)," added Vincent Ven.

"Without revealing any secrets, we decided to place the last matches of the group stage under increased surveillance, because they are sometimes not very high stakes because we already have a team that is sure to finish first in its group and qualify.
