Rummenigge: "Paris SG have never respected financial fair play"

"PSG quickly became competitive through huge investments from the owner. But they did not respect the rules of financial fair play that involve not spending more than you earn," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, president of Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) and the ECA (European Club Association) on 06/02/2014.

"I cannot even imagine how they can manage the club... They took the club to the top with economically disproportionate expenditure... We've all heard the buzz about this contract with Qatar, worth approximately €200m per season," added the German leader in an interview with German newspaper Bild.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge refers to the partnership between Paris SG and QTA (Qatar Tourism Authority) since 2011, worth between €150 and €200m annually. To comply with the rules of financial fair play, Paris Saint-Germain must convince UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) that QTA is not a "related party" of Qatar Sports Investments, which owns the club, and therefore that the PSG-QTA contract is not simply a tool to circumvent the rules by artificially inflating the Parisian club's…
