FC Barcelona: 2,100 youngsters for the Academy World Cup featuring the club's 51 academies

FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) has hosted the eighth edition of its international tournament the "Barça Academy World Cup", in which 2,100 youngsters aged 6 to 14 participated, at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, the club's training centre, and on the neighbouring pitches of the Mini Estadi, which hosts the club's B team matches, from 15 to 18/04/2019. For the first time, the competition was called "Barça Academy World Cup presented by Rakuten", in order to highlight Rakuten, main shirt sponsor of FC Barcelona for the 2017-2021 period (plus an additional optional season).

The young participants in the tournament were all members of one of FC Barcelona's 51 academies around the world or had participated in a camp organised by the club. In total, 188 teams from 23 countries and five continents participated in the tournament in one of the four categories: U8, U10, U12 and U14. 8,000 people were present to attend at least one of the 650 matches played over the four days of the competition.
