Genoa disaster: UC Sampdoria and Genoa CFC will take part in a charity match on 27/05/2019

Unione Calcio Sampdoria and Genoa Cricket and Football Club, the two clubs from the city of Genoa (ITA) that play in Serie A TIM, will participate in a charity match on 27/05/2019, for which the proceeds will go to companies affected by the collapse of the Morandi Bridge, announced the two clubs on 23/04/2019.

The collapse of a portion of the Morandi Bridge on the A10 motorway in Genoa, shortly before noon on 14/08/2018, killed 43 people. The City of Genoa had declared two days of mourning, on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16/08/2018, while the Italian government declared 18/08/2018 as the national day of mourning. The Serie A TIM matches of the two Genoa clubs scheduled for the weekend following the disaster were postponed by the Lega Serie A.

The match on 27/05/2019 to be named "Facciamo squaddra per Genova" ("We are a team for Genoa"), will pit a team composed of current players from Sampdoria and Genoa versus a team of former players from both clubs. Multiple activities are planned before, during and after the match.
