Premier League: a record combined revenue of £4.8bn (+6%) in 2017-18 for the 20 clubs (Deloitte)

The combined revenues of the 20 Premier League clubs amounted to a record £4.8bn (€5.42bn on 30/06/2018) in 2017-18, up 6% from 2016-17 (£4.6bn/€5.12bn), according to a study by the Sports Business Group of the UK branch of the audit and consulting firm Deloitte, published on 25/04/2019.

"The increase in revenue is in part attributable to the Premier League having a record five teams competing in the UEFA Champions League last year, all reaching the Round of 16 (Chelsea FC, Manchester United FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC eliminated in the Round of 16, Manchester City FC in the quarter-finals and Liverpool FC defeated in the final) or beyond, resulting in a substantial increase of £71m (€80.1m) in UEFA Champions League distributions to Premier League clubs. Alongside the increase in UEFA distributions, matchday and commercial revenue both grew by 8% and 12% respectively," said Deloitte.

Premier League clubs posted a pre-tax profit of £400m (€451m) in 2017-18, a lower figure than in 2016-17 (£500m/€570m). Despite this decline, the cumulative profit is the second highest in the history…
