European Cups reform: "The big clubs would lose in the long run too" (Javier Tebas, LaLiga)

"It is a mistake to think, in the short term, that the creation of a Super League will bring more economic benefits to some of the big clubs. In reality, the big clubs of this new league will also lose in the long run, because their supporters will feel sidelined. They are used to seeing their club win competitions and be competitive in their (domestic) championship," said Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, in the French daily Le Monde on 07/05/2019.

LaLiga hosted the "Club Advisory Platform" organized on the initiative of European Leagues, and which involved 244 European clubs in Madrid (ESP) on 06 and 07/05/2019. The objective: "To protect national football competitions and the long-term financial and sporting viability of all professional clubs in Europe," which, according to them, are threatened by the UEFA - ECA project of a Super Champions League, starting from of 2024-25, with four groups of eight teams (see below) and a guaranteed qualification for the next edition for 24 of the 32 participants (75%).
