Financial Fair Play: Manchester City "cooperating in good faith" with UEFA's Financial Control Body

"Manchester City FC (Premier League) is fully cooperating in good faith with the CFCB IC's (UEFA Club Financial Control Body Investigatory Chamber) ongoing investigation. In doing so the Club is reliant on both the CFCB IC's independence and commitment to due process; and on UEFA's commitment of the 07/03/2019 that it '….will make no further comment on the matter while the investigation is ongoing'," said the 2018-19 Premier League champions, on 14/05/2019.

This statement follows a New York Times article published on 13/05/2019 indicating that UEFA should soon recommend that Manchester City be excluded from the Champions League for one season (2019-20 or 2020-21) due to the club's failure to comply with financial fair play rules, misrepresentations in a previous UEFA investigation and overvaluation of its sponsorship contracts.
