European Cups: German clubs unanimously reject the UEFA - ECA project

"The ordinary assembly of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga as union of the 36 clubs of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga rejects the current reform proposals for the international club competitions from 2024 onwards," announced the German league at its Ordinary Assembly held in Offenbach, near Frankfurt (Germany), on 15/05/2019.

"The presently discussed concept of the European Club Association ECA would have unacceptable consequences for the national leagues in Europe and should therefore not be implemented in this form. We must not allow, that the traditional national leagues are damaged in their attractiveness for millions of people across the continent," said Christian Seifert, CEO of the DFL.
