Turkey: NBA games not broadcast following the political position of player Enes Kanter

The finals of the National Basketball Association's 2019 Western Conference between the Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trail Blazers, since 14/05/2019, have not been broadcast in Turkey on the channel which holds the rights to the NBA, S Sport, due to the presence of player Enes Kanter (TUR), who has repeatedly criticised the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on social networks since 2016.

"I can say clearly that we will not be broadcasting the Warriors-Blazers series. Furthermore, if Portland makes it to the finals, (that) will not be broadcast either…This situation is not about us, but it is what it is," said S Sport commentator Omer Sarac to the news agency Reuters on 14/05/2019

The Western Conference finals are only available in Turkey via the NBA League Pass (OTT). S Sport, has however, been broadcasting the finals of the NBA East Conference between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors (since May 15/05/2019).
