Coupe de la Ligue BKT: two new formats under review to try to save the competition after 2020

Two new formats of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT were presented at the offices of the Ligue de Football Professionnel, in an attempt to relaunch a competition that has not yet found broadcasters for the 2020-2024 period, on 15/05/2019.

One provides for the formation of four regional groups - north, south, east and west - with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final. The other proposes a tournament reserved for eight teams, the first eight from the previous Ligue 1 season, "between, for example, mid-December and the end of December with a final on January 10," said Première Ligue, the union of club presidents, who added, "It would still be called the 'Coupe de la Ligue', but would be nothing like the current competition."

The League had indicated, at the beginning of 2019, that it would not refrain from doing anything in its revision of the Coupe de la Ligue, including its format, specifying that it would conduct the review with the clubs.
